1st Dan Black Belt
Prerequisite amount of classes: 60 to 80 class minimum
This is the material you need to test for 1st Degree Black Belt. At this point you will start to earn different color stars for the material you have perfected. Star testing is to take place on regular scheduled testing days. In order to test, you must fill out the Star Testing Application sheet which requires 10 Brown Belt classes and 10 classes corresponding to the star you are testing for. Each class must be signed off by the instructor who taught that specific class.
You will be required to achieve 7 total Stars in order to test.
- Yellow Star: All White Belt, 2nd Degree Yellow and 1st Degree Yellow material
- Orange Star: All 2nd Degree Orange and 1st Degree Orange material
- Green Star: All 2nd Degree Green and 1st Degree Green material
- Blue Star: All 2nd Degree Blue and 1st Degree Blue material
- Purple Star: All Purple Belt material
- Red Star: All Red Belt material
- Brown Star: All Brown Belt material
Once you have achieved all 7 Stars, you will take your Black Belt Test, where, when you pass, you will receive your Black Star. After that, we will schedule a Black Belt Graduation Ceremony where you will showcase some of your best material, then receive your Black Belt. The Graduation allows you to invite anyone who you wish to witness the monumental occasion-family, friends, classmates, etc.
Your Instructor
Master Greg Hussey has been training since 1984 In United States Black Cat Kenpo Karate. He is currently a 6th Degree Black Belt and part of the USBCKF Board of Directors. 2016 he was inducted into the Soke Little john Davis Black Belt Hall of Fame.
